– Cold compress on the sting site for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, you need to remove it for 10 minutes and follow this pattern until the pain subsides.
– Clean the wound well with the help of mild soap and water.
– Over the counter medications such as ibuprofen and Tylenol are helpful in reducing the pain and swelling of a scorpion sting.
Scorpion Sting Risk Factors
Many people don’t have to worry about scorpion stings. There are a few factors that could put you at risk though so be aware of them.
– Geography: Scorpions like to live in areas where there is a desert landscape. They are found in the southwest areas of the U.S. If you live in these areas, you should be aware of them.
– Environment: If you see large rocks, logs or tree bark, these are all areas where bark scorpions like to live so beware.
– Travel: Those that aren’t used to scorpions and are traveling to areas that see scorpion activity are at the most risk. Their lack of knowledge on the risk posed by scorpions is lower than someone that lives there.
