Striped Bark Scorpions Stings & Venom

They are a medium sized scorpion, only growing up to approximately 2 ¾” in length. They are pale-yellow in color and bear two long dark brown stripes. Generally these scorpions are found under rocks and surface debris, or hiding in dense vegetation. They may even wander in old sheds and barns during the day, as they are primarily nocturnal and emerge just after sunset to hunt for prey. Striped bark scorpions will sting you has a defense mechanisms which is usually quite painful. In some cases, the venom from their stings has been fatal to infants, but adults can get past it. If you have been stung, immediately wash the bite area with soap and water and place a cold compress on the wound for 10 minutes and then let it breath for 10 minutes. Repeat as necessary.
