How to Identify & Prevent German, American, Oriental & Other Cockroach Infestations in Your Hutto, TX Home

If you have ever went to the kitchen for a midnight snack or a glass of water and clicked the light on to see a little black or brown cockroach scurry off then you have figured out their evil plans. These critters are usually hiding away somewhere until the house has gone quiet and everyone is in bed. They come out and start to scavenge for food and water. That means that most of the time they are not noticed right away. A-Tex Pest Management outlines what types of cockroaches you might see and how to get rid of them in your home.

German Cockroach Infestation

This is the most common cockroach found in the state of Texas. They can be identified by their tan color and the fact that they are not very big. They also have a darker brown line that runs parallel line that goes from their head to their wings. They have wings that are fully developed but they cannot fly. They prefer to hide out in kitchen and bathrooms where they have access to water and food most conveniently.

American Cockroaches

This is the next most common cockroach that you might find in our local area. They are one of the largest of the species of cockroaches and can be identified by their reddish dark brown coloring. They also have a yellow band of color behind the back of their head. They have fully developed wings and can actually take flight and many times do when they need to get away.

Oriental Cockroaches

This is the third most common cockroach that you may find crawling around your home and property. This cockroach is not as big as an American cockroach and they are black in color. They also have a set of wings that have fully developed but they do not fly. They are found mostly outdoors but will come in to find shelter and food.

Cockroach Prevention Tips

If you want to prevent cockroaches from entering your home you can start by keeping all food cleaned up and sealed tight. You can also make sure that you have a good pest control company that is treating your home on a regular basis.
